Wilton Has Recalled 2 Varieties of Its Popular Sprinkles Due to an Undeclared Allergen

If you’ve purchased Wilton brand sprinkles recently — specifically their Rainbow Chip Crunch Sprinkles or Rainbow Sprinkles Mix — you may be owed a refund. The Naperville, Illinois-based company has recently issued a voluntary recall of specific lots of these sprinkles because they may contain milk, an undeclared allergen.

“Although the product label does indicate that it may contain milk, this recall is being conducted because some samples of the product were found to contain milk,” the announcement reads. “People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products. The health and safety of our consumers is Wilton’s primary concern and Wilton is acting with the highest degree of caution and urgency to address this issue.”

For the Rainbow Chip Crunch Sprinkles, the recall includes lots 20294Z, 20314Z, 20345Z, 21013Z, and 21022Z, while lots 21005Z and 21111Z are being recalled for the Rainbow Sprinkles Mix. You can locate your lot codes at the bottom of Wilton’s sprinkle containers. The company notes that other lot codes are safe to consume and not included in this recall.

If you have purchased these now-recalled sprinkles, Wilton says to dispose of them immediately or return them to where you bought them for a full refund. The recalled products are also being removed from shelves at retailers and distributors nationwide.
